The Biblical narrative of Jonah is recorded in the Holy Bible under a book indexed by the same name. Jonah is the protagonist who abandoned his Divine commission, however he as flesh understood he was supposed to fulfil it, and booked passage on a ship to Tarshish, safely out of the way of Nineveh. On route, a storm roiled the waters tossing the ship and the sailors -- perhaps, by today's standard for modern man -- a superstitious lot knew, as in, they even cast lots -- a kind of Urim and Thummim equivalent -- to verify the Ggods were angry and Jonah was right when he said he was the problem and they obeyed his demand to cast him overboard. Jonah was swallowed by a big fish that puked him on the shore after three days of his begging for his life in exchange for delivering the Divine message to Nineveh. The Ninevites repented. Jonah, in a tizzy fit with the Ggods, insisted he should have witnessed the destruction of the entire city, a real Sodom and Gomorrah revival destruction that proved Heaven. But, Jonah was disappointed and after a worm ate his bottle gourd plant, that preserved his soul as he sat and pouted on a barren hill, his story just ends.
Is there anyone that reads the narrative of Jonah and manages to say "oh yeah, running the other way has no consequences when God calls them"?
